SmartVET Draft Learning Manual on Interactive Whiteboards for VET Teachers

This is the Draft Learning Manual for Interactive Whiteboards for VET teachers. It was drafted by our partner, Anna Giglioli of ENAIP, in Italy. Please add your feedback in the comments box below. It is full of information about interesting teaching methodologies for use with adult learners, and may  be of help when you are planning to deliver lessons using the Interactive Whiteboard.  You may also know of some approaches not included which we could include!

The manual is a work in progress. If you have any suggestions or changes that you would like to make to it. Please add them to the comments box below.

Ok. Replying to Anna's comments. 1) electrology. probably the best phrase for this in English is electricity and magnetism.

2) Buzen holds copy right on one specific use of the term mind map, in connection with personal development. He does not have general copyright on the term. I cannot find any evidence that he has in any patent, design or copyright data base. The UK IPO office shows no registration for Mind Map. and one registration for the term "Buzan"

The irish IPO office shows no protection for either term.

The Europeen patent office also shown no protection fro either term

The US patent office shows some uses of the term Mind Map, almost all of which are dead.  The only relvent one seems to be US serial number

73823774, which relates to courses in self improvement. A very limmited use which does not seem to apply here.

My 2c.

- About Laurence Cuffe's comment on Electrology (P99): we used this word in the etymological sense as: "That branch of physical science which treats of the phenomena of electricity and its properties" - to avoid confusion, we can use ELECTROPHYSICS, is it ok with you?

- About mind maps (P75) - it's true what you write: "Mind maps have been marketed by Buzan, they were not invented by him". For this reason I wrote: "Mind maps are a means of organizing information visually, proposed in the late 1960s by Buzan" (proposed - I deliberately avoided the term invented) ... but Buzan holds the copyright on mind maps... I'm afraid that we can not avoid to mention him :-(    But you can suggest a better sentence, of course!

Interesting how things become accepted as an invention in popular culture!

P99 possibly replace Electrology by The science of electricity or the science of electrical hair removal. Electrology is the science of hair removal by electrolysis. This may not be a fair translation of the course topic.

P75 Mind maps have been marketed by Buzan, they were not invented by him. c.f.

for an early example by Walt Disney.

(Sorry but Buzan irritates me, and even a cursory search on the topic will reveal his unsavory and aggressiveness history in trying to comercialize this concept.
