Use of ICT in Vocational Education and Training
Mary is a primary school teacher in Co. Wicklow. She was delighted to discover that her school was buying an IWB for her classroom.
It has not worked correctly since it was installed two weeks ago. Mary finds that her handwriting is very messy and she cannot move objects around the board.

John is an IT tutor working for Dublin City ETB. He travels from centre to centre on a daily basis with a personal laptop. He has spent the summer creating lesson resources in Promethean software but has now discovered that all the centres have different boards. How would you advise John?
Susan is moved to a different classroom in September. She opens the software on the desktop PC to discover it is an older version and all the gallery resources are missing. How can this be resolved?
Tom the science teacher moves from room to room for his classes. He arrives into the lab to find the eraser has gone missing from the pen tray. Every time he touches the board a big white circle appears on the screen. What should he do?
Sarah a geography teacher returns to her classroom after the Christmas holidays and discovers that the interactive whiteboard is no longer working. What should she look out for? And what can she do to remedy this situation?

I stumbled upon Word Wall at BETT 2013 and I immediately thought it was an excellent addition to our SmartVET Project. It is very similar to the Lesson Activity Builder in the Notebook software but it has some excellent additional resources. And best of all it’s free to download for all teachers on their personal PC’s or laptops.
